By Lesley Goldberg, The Hollywood Reporter

NBC has sunk its teeth into "Dracula." The network has ordered 10 episodes of the drama series, tapping?"The Tudors's"?Jonathan Rhys?Meyers to play the famous vampire in what NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt?dubbed a "new version of the classic Bram Stoker" tale.

The series, which bypassed the traditional pilot stage, takes place in the 1890s and finds Dracula living a double life in London as an American businessman interested in bringing modern science to Victorian society. His true plan to exact revenge on those who burdened him centuries ago, however, is derailed when he falls in love with a woman who seems to be his reincarnated wife.

"Dracula"?unites Greenblatt -- who noted Tuesday morning at?the Television Critics Association (TCA)?summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif.?that he had other big announcements that weren't quite ready at the time of his executive session -- with his former star Meyers, whom he cast on the Showtime period drama and cast as Elvis Presley on the telepic?"Elvis."

"In the world of?"Twilight"?and?"True Blood"?and all the contemporized stories, we thought we'd go back to the original," he told reporters Tuesday at TCA, noting that the series would stay true to the time period but look toward the future.

"Dracula," a co-production from British Sky Broadcasting, Carnival Films & Television, Flame Ventures and NBCUniversal, hails from?Tony Krantz?("24,"?"Sports Night")?and former HBO Films president?Colin Callender?and writer/creator?Cole Haddon?(who will co-executive produce)?and will be produced for NBC stateside and the U.K.'s Sky Living. Gareth Neame?("Downton Abbey") and?Anne Mensah?are also on board, along with Reece Pearson, who will also serve as a co-executive producer.?

Additional castings and production details will be announced at a later date. Haddon is repped by ICM Partners and Anonymous Content.

The?"Dracula"?order comes as NBC is readying another supernatural-type drama in its reboot of?"The Munsters."?From?"Pushing Daisies"?creator?Bryan Fuller, NBC previewed the pilot for?"Mockingbird Lane"?this month at Comic-Con. A decision on the effort, which has received an order for additional scripts, is expected to come in the next month or so. Eddie Izzard?portrays Grandpa Munster, a Dracula-like figure, in?"Mockingbird Lane."

Swiss and Austrian hospitals suspend religious circumcision ...

Two Swiss hospitals have suspended the performance of infant circumcision, after the ruling of a German court in Cologne which said that religious circumcision was likely to be illegal because it infringed the rights of the child. The case arose after a four-year old boy suffered excessive bleeding after being circumcised.

Last week, Zurich University Children?s Hospital announced that it would stop performing the procedure, and the northern Swiss St. Gall teaching hospital followed suit over the weekend. A Berlin hospital has also stopped permitting circumcisions.

Unlike the German court ruling, which affected all circumcisions in the country, it is expected that the Swiss move will not affect circumcisions that take place in mosques and synagogues.

Meanwhile in Austria, the governor of the nation?s most western province of Vorarlberg, Markus Wallner, has told state-run hospitals run to suspend religious circumcisions, again citing the German ruling that the practice amounted to causing criminal bodily harm.

Mr Wallner says he sees the German decision last month, arising from the case of a child whose circumcision led to medical complications, as a ?precedence-setting judgment.? He told provincial hospitals on Tuesday not to perform the procedure except for health reasons until the legal situation is clarified in Austria.

The decision does not affect religiously motivated circumcisions performed outside hospitals run by the Vorarlberg government.

Obama aides: President will visit Israel in a second term

(CNN) ? President Barack Obama, if elected to a second term, would visit Israel, something he has not done since taking office-according to Obama campaign aides.

In a conference call with reporters Monday, Colin Kahl, the former deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East, said "we can expect him to visit Israel in a second term should he be elected."

Republicans have criticized the president for not making the trek to visit the United States' valued ally.

Earlier Monday, John Bolton, a former U.S ambassador to the United Nations and a foreign policy adviser for GOP challenger Mitt Romney, also criticized Obama for not visiting the country, saying though the president has had time to fit in round after round of golf, "he has not had time to fit into his busy schedule even one trip to Israel."

In response to criticism, Kahl continued: "The president has been to Israel multiple times, but more than that he's backed up his words with feats," noting, among other accomplishments in the region, funding of the 'Iron Dome' missile defense system, put in place to intercept rockets entering Israel.

Obama aides were quick to highlight former Republican presidents' track records on visiting Israel - Ronald Reagan, who never went as president and George W. Bush - who traveled to Israel twice during the last year of his second term.

With the start of Romney's overseas trip, which includes a stop in Israel, just a few days away, the Obama campaign sought to emphasize their rival candidate's resistance to lay out a specific plan for the country's foreign policy.

The former Massachusetts governor's campaign has said that the focus of the candidate's trip will be to "listen and learn" and will not engage in a policy discussion. Despite this, senior Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs said voters will be looking for Romney to lay out a more specific foreign policy plan "rather than just generalities and sound bites."

The Romney campaign responded with this statement issued shortly after the call.

"In no region of the world is our country's influence any stronger than it was four years ago. President Obama has failed to restore our economy, is weakening our military with devastating defense cuts, and has diminished our moral authority. Governor Romney will restore the pillars of American strength to secure our interest and defend our values," said Romney Campaign spokesman Ryan Williams, referring to the Obama campaign's criticism of Romney's attacks on the administration's policy in Israel.

The president's campaign also hammered Romney's plan to hold a fund-raiser while in London, saying Obama himself did not do an overseas fund-raiser during a similar trip when he was campaigning for the White House in 2008.

The Romney campaign pushed back against this argument, citing a Berlin speech Obama gave on his 2008 trip where shortly after campaign manager David Plouffe used the speech to solicit for funds.

Romney is set to begin his travels Wednesday, making an appearance at the London Olympic Games, Israel and Poland all the while meeting with top foreign political figures, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Union leaders call for boycott of Hyatt Hotels

Union leaders representing employees of Hyatt Hotels are calling for a global boycott of the hotel chain they've been in a dispute with for years.

The NFL Players Association, UNITE HERE, and the AFL-CIO were among the groups that descended upon the nation's capital Monday to demonstrate against the Chicago-based company. They called for a week of demonstrations at Hyatt Hotels in 20 U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Baltimore, and Boston. And they urged travelers not to stay at any Hyatt Hotels "to send a clear message to Hyatt that its abuse and exploitation of hotel workers will not be tolerated," according to a press release.

"The global boycott marks the largest escalation to date in an ongoing campaign for basic workers rights," the organizers said in the release. "Hyatt has singled itself out as the worst employer in the hotel industry by abusing its housekeepers and other hotel workers, replacing long-time employees with minimum wage temporary workers, and imposing dangerous and health-threatening workloads on those who remain."

The boycott comes nearly a week after the National Labor Relations Board in Chicago found merit in Hyatt's unfair labor practice charges that UNITE HERE representatives bargained in bad faith by refusing to schedule more frequent negotiating sessions and arriving late and leaving early for those meetings. Hyatt had also complained that labor leaders had made illegal demands during contract negotiations with the company.

As a result of the board's ruling, according to the Chicago Tribune:

The locals, representing workers at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Park Hyatt Chicago, Hyatt Regency McCormick Place and Hyatt Regency O'Hare, agreed to engage in bargaining sessions "with reasonable frequency" and not to engage in conduct "that frustrates reaching an agreement."

As well, it agreed to drop proposed contract language on strikes and work stoppages that the NLRB regional director found to be illegal.

According to the Tribune, one of the sticking points has been how the unions can recruit members. The paper quoted Mark Hoplamazian, president and chief executive of Hyatt, as saying that the union wants to recruit members in non-union markets using so-called card check method, in which organizers gather signatures from workers. Hyatt, meanwhile, prefers secret ballot elections.

Hyatt says the union is refusing to allow employees to vote on the same wage and benefits proposals that unions at Starwood and Hilton properties have already accepted.

"As a result, Unite Here has denied Hyatt associates it represents the wage and benefit increases they deserve for nearly three years," Doug Patrick, senior vice president of human resources at Hyatt Hotels, said in a statement e-mailed to Hotel Check-in.

"While continuing to deny our associates the pay raises and benefits increases they deserve, Unite Here leaders' new call for a global boycott of Hyatt will have a direct and negative impact on our associates, who depend on business at our hotels for their livelihoods," Patrick said. "If successful, the boycott will hurt our associates, contradicting the union's stated objective of supporting our associates by improving their workplace environment and compensation."
